Eurac Research - Italy

The Institute for Comparative Federalism at Eurac Research analyses how complex societies are organised and how decisions are made, to provide solutions at the local and global level on how to improve the democratic efficiency of institutions and policies. Read more

Eurac Research is a private research centre based in Bolzano/Bozen, Italy, with more than 600 international researchers from a wide variety of scientific fields.
Eurac Research is the administrative coordinator of LEGITIMULT (WP9) and leads Shaping the Future – from Project to Practice (WP7). Eurac Research is also supporting WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP8 and WP9.

Universitetet i Bergen - Norway

Arjan H. Schakel and Bilal Hassan from the Department of Comparative Politics are responsible for Dataset and Quantitative Analysis (WP1) which will develop a coding scheme to trace the involvement of subnational governments in the Covid-19 government responses. They will also develop a quantitative dataset to analyse the impact of subnational involvement on the democratic quality of decision-making during the Covid-19 crisis. Arjan and Bilal are members of the Centre on Regional Democratic Governance (CREDGOV) which is a research centre that conducts cutting-edge research on regional democracy and that actively engages with policy-makers to improve regional democracy. The team of the Centre on Regional Democratic Governance collects a set of data on elections, parties, parliaments, governments and institutions at the regional level and this data is made available through the Observatory on Regional Democracy and through the European Regional Democray Map.

UiB is also supporting WP2, WP3, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP8 and WP9.

Universiteit Leiden - the Netherlands

Leiden University was founded in 1575 and is one of the leading international research universities in Europe. The University has seven faculties and a campus in both Leiden and The Hague. Read more

The Governance and Global Affairs Faculty of the University of Leiden studies current topics such as climate change, terrorism and economic crises. With its interdisciplinary approach, the faculty connects with the surrounding national and international organisations.

and minority studies in Central Europe. It is one of the oldest institutes of its kind in Europe and in the world. Read more

IES leads Legitimate Crisis Governance in the Context of Human Rights, Minority Rights and the Principle of Non-Discrimination (WP4).

The Department of Political Science and the Department of Applied Economics have a long experience in the analysis of multilevel governance systems. Based on this experience, the UNED team will work on the study of the political legitimacy of Covid 19 measures using different quantitative and qualitative methods.

As the oldest Faculty of Political Science in Central, Eastern and South-East Europe, FPZG is an academic institution whose mission is acquisition and transfer of knowledge about the Croatian state and politics, society, media and its international environment.

International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance - Sweden

International IDEA is an intergovernmental organisation with 34 Member States that seeks to strengthen democratic institutions and processes worldwide.Read more

International IDEA is focused in the impact areas of electoral processes, constitution-building, and political participation. IDEA executes its goals by (1) developing comparative knowledge resources to advance policy and enable actions; and (2) providing technical assistance to democratic reformers on the ground in more than 60 countries.
The organisation works with a wide range of stakeholders including policymakers, global, national and sub-national actors, and civil society. The Democracy Assessment Unit (DA) is responsible for LEGITIMULT.
